Ever wondered why Genki Sushi has an angry face with two red dots for its logo? Turned out that this international franchise from Japan chose this visage to represent the brand because it projects the serious professional mien of a sushi chef. The two red dots on the other hand signifies young and positive energy.
Genki Sushi at SM Aura opened in July 2017 and is one among 5 branches to date which include BGC Stop over, UP Town Center, Ayala Malls on the 30th and SM North Edsa if I heard their Marketing Lady Ms Mikee correctly.
Genki Sushi belongs to the group who brought us Mango Tree, Kureji, Cucina Peruvia and Sen-Ryo to name a few.
Earlier today, I experienced Genki Sushi for the first time. Even having visited the Land of the Rising Sun several times , I have not had the pleasure of trying the conveyor belt sushi places.
So it was actually a delight to try it first hand a few hours ago.
How to order :
1. An ipad is provided for every table with the complete menu attached on the wall where the rails of Kousoku Express can be seen.
2. Just tap your selection on the screen and click GO in green and in a few minutes you will have your nigiri, sushi or sashimi speeding towards you like the famous Japanese Shinkansen or bullet trains.
3. Once you are done eating just click the bill button and a summary of your total bill will appear on the screen.
Simple. Efficient. Easy.
Moreover your table is self sufficient. It has a faucet for hot water to make matcha tea with. One round container beside it contains the matcha tea powder. There is also a rectangular box of chopsticks, a tissue dispenser just within your reach and a row of glasses for your drinks
FOOD
Noted how fresh their salmon sashimi, shrimp sashimi and yellow fin tuna were. Nigiri and sushi were of generous portions . Easily teleported me back to Tsukiji Market this one.
My favorites were salmon sashimi, salmon belly sashimi, salmon nigiri, yellow fin tuna sashimi. They were beautifully cut and tasted amazingly fresh.
Shrimp sashimi although delicately small, tasted sweet and of the sea
Overall, we demolished 30 plates, 1 bento, 3 icecream, 1 rare cheesecake, 1 salad with drinks for the 6 of us. Our bill amounted to just over P6000 or an average of P200 per dish ordered. Not bad.
Definitely returning with the handsome hubby and piggery in tow.
