Feels like our trip to Barcelona happened eons ago when we were just there last December. So many changes (to put it mildly) had already transpired with COVID 19
Looking back, who would have thought that the eruption of Taal in January was just a harbinger of worse things to come in 2020. I have read the news about the closure of Wuhan in December yet it did not occur to me that the same thing would happen to our shores and the world!
A little over two months from the onset of quarantine, and we have gotten used to our new reality capped by phrases that now punctuate our existence.
Hand-washing, Mask-wearing, social distancing, flattening the curve is our daily mantra alongside having everything delivered.
Food delivery. Two magic words that brighten up our weekends. Before Covid19 or BC, Saturdays and Sundays are leisure days spend with the piggery aka kids. After Sunday mass, we usually bond at a restaurant we all like. These are the only days we can spend more time as a family.
With Covid19, malling was replaced by new BFFs called GrabFood, Lala, and Food Panda.
Still remember how a week before our trip to Barcelona, the family pigged out at Bueno. We had fun familiarizing ourselves with the tapas, pintxos, sangria, and paella the better to appreciate the original when we arrive in Spain. We had a grand time gorging ourselves with their paella Negra and various tapas and pintxos washed down with sangria and bottles of wine.
So we were delighted to find out that last May 20, Bueno opened its resto for taking out and delivery. Last night we enjoyed our dinner of Paella Mixta P790, Gambas al Ajillo P435, and Estofado de Res P590
The tendon and cartilage on the Estofado de Res were so sinfully melt-in-your-mouth, I must have eaten bowls of rice with this haha. I was initially afraid about how the Gambas' quality would fare with the delivery. Fortunately, the shrimps retained its succulence. The roasted garlic and the buttery sauce were beautifully done. Do not forget to dip your made-from-scratch baguette on that scrumptious golden liquid.
The Paella Mixta was quite tasty as well. I just missed the soccarat or the tutong part which I always look for in paellas.
All in all, considering the quality of the ingredients and how delicious all the three items were, you get your money's worth with Bueno Tapas & Wine. The Paella, Estofado, and Gambas with our bottle of wine immediately transported us to that cold night in Barcelona last Christmas.
