Teppan Okochi

okochisteaksidelay-4582901 Enjoyed last night’s  dinner at this new resto find in BGC, called TEPPAN OKOCHI JAPANESE STEAKHOUSE. With Grand Chef Akihiro Okochi and Chef Christian Lavati, together with @ilovetoeatph and @alwayshungryph ,  we enjoyed the following Special Teppan Course… Special Teppan Course P1990

S a l a d

okochicamembert-8558632
 Camembert Salad

Omg I so love cheese especially its melted variant. For our starter, Chef Christian fried the  round camembert in the  teppan, drizzled a little wine over it and covered it with a copper lid to speed up the melting process.

After a few minutes, voila! The camembert retained its shape externally but inside it turned into a  mass of gooey cheese that was a delight to eat with our greens. So addicting! Paired well with our fruity sake too!

okochigrilledcaesar-7191381

Teppan Grilled Caesar Salad with Crunchy Cheese

That crisp like garnish on top is actually parmesan cheese cooked on the teppan right in front of us. It pretty much elevated the simple Caesar to another level

pumpkin soup straight to the teppan plastic and all

Soup

Pumpkin Cream  Soup

Fascinating how even the soup was cooked on the teppan. Thanks to that  plastic imported from Japan that can withstand high temperatures, soups or broths are cooked faster while retaining its flavor . Think short cut dry sous vide .

Seafood Platter

Grilled Prawns and Today’s Catch with tartar sauce

It is so easy to overcook the prawns. Not Chef Christian though. Prawns were perfectly cooked with just the hint of a bite over its succulent meat

okochiyakinikuburger-7895010
Yakiniku Burger

Still off the menu, this dish used yakiniku beef in lieu of  the usual ground patty. Brioche bun (?) was also deep fried first before serving with egg on top. The result ? A sinful, mouthwatering mouthful of sweet  yakiniku merging with the creamy egg…yum!

okochipastamentaiko-5908058

Teppan Creamy Hakata Mentaiko Pasta P580

This is one pasta I would not mind ordering again. It may look bland  with weird pinkish color but its drab appearance was more than made up for by its complex  yet balanced flavors and its  silky-creamy texture

okochigrilledmushrooms-3844848
4 Kinds Grilled Mushrooms P580

Overall true to their concept and brand, everything was teppan-cooked . From the soup (remember the plastic?), to the pasta, of course the mains, and even the desserts (!), everything was well ….”teppaned”

The star of the  night though were the Wagyu and USDA Rib eye. Melt-in-your-mouth, scrumptious, sinful , downright the best one Ive had so far reminiscent of the family’s Wagyu dinner in Ginza some moons back.

Do pair those beautiful steak with the restaurant’s wine , sake or whiskey.

Definitely returning with the carnivorous piggery and the handsome hubby soon!

TEPPAN OKOCHI is located at the ground floor of ORE Building at the 9th and 31st street in BGC Taguig. If you are more into Japanese food other than teppan, visit their 2nd branch in Rockwell which just opened last April.
