Admittedly, it has been quite a while since the family's visit to any Cabalen branch. The sprouting of different restaurants all over the metro has given us quite a selection to choose from so that 'classic' restaurants or dining places decades old were relegated to the back burner.
I have forgotten how good Kapampangan dishes can be.
A visit a couple of weeks ago at their SM North Edsa branch rekindled my enthusiasm for classic Pinoy dishes anew.
I tried everything in Cabalen's Buffet spread and my favorites were the Hito/Catfish with burong hipon, Kare Kare, Puting Pansit, Kohol and the ginataang bilo bilo in the dessert section.
Cabalen Manager shares that their Kare Kare was adjudged the best one from among several Pinoy restaurants by no less than Jessica Soho. So this is really a must try.
The Hito paired well with the burong hipon. I can not seem to get enough of that grilled fish and fermented shrimps.
Overall for less than P400 , you will get your fill of Pinoy classics done the Kapampangan way in Cabalen's Buffet. It is therefore no surprise that whichever Cabalen branch you find yourself in, the place is always packed
Cabalen is located at the 3rd floor Main building SM City North Edsa
