NEW RESTO ALERT!
I just love discovering new dining places just like this one in Ascott Hotel in BGC called SCOTT'S.
Owned by Ascott Hotel a Singaporean company, they named the resto after a road in Singapore.
Scott's Road is a road located in Central Area of Singapore. It was named after Captain William G. Scott, Harbor Master and Post Master of Singapore in 1836 , who owned property and plantations on and around the area where Scotts Road now stands - Wikipedia
Nothing says Pinoy Comfort Food best than a plate of crispy and succulent looking LECHON KAWALI. This one though had something different than our much loved and iconic dish. For one, that beautifully popped crackling/pork skin was sweet perhaps because of the drizzle of honey (?) it received. Moreover, that slab of sin seemingly plopped itself nonchalantly on a bed of virginal white radish puree which effectively cut through the richness of that beautiful pork. The cherry tomatoes provided the much needed color to the dish along with the liver sauce which is a quintessential element to the dish.
Love Indian food? I know I do. Buttered chicken, nan, basmati rice - the aroma alone is worth its weight in gold. Visualize cream, tomatoes, aromatic spices and butter for sauce.
The chicken is usually cooked in tandoor or clay oven, but may be grilled , roasted or panfried. It is served in mild curry sauce that includes butter. The sauce is a tomato and onion based sauce that is simmered until smooth and much of the water has evaporated- Wikipedia
Laksa s a spicy noodle soup popular in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia as street food and comfort food. Curry laksa is the more popular one with creamy coconut milk base...
We need that Strawberry Shortcake after the complex flavors of the above dishes. Frosting was delicious whipped cream with fresh strawberries. Cake was moist and a bit denser that I expected . Filling was a delight with a mix of whip cream and chunks of fresh strawberries. Apart from the fruit, the cake was garnished with a cute macaron.
Overall, they had me at comfort food. If the food presented was just the trailer to a movie or to the whole menu., Im buying tickets for the family.
The broth of that Laksa was amazing! I also loved that butter chicken. Who can say no to that gorgeous shortcake!
I guess Im returning with the handsome hubby and piggery in tow soon.
Do check them out and let me know how it turns out for you.
SCOTT'S is located at the 2nd floor Ascott Bonifacio Global City Mail at 28th street.
