Tokyo Tokyo launched its newest Ramen a few days ago. Called Beef & Tomato Ramen, the broth had the perfect balance of sweet and savory .
I loved the sweetness of the corn kernels and the how the beef made the broth richer and more flavorful.
Beef & Tomato Ramen comes in two sizes- Snack P160 and regular P210
You can request for upgrade that includes a choice of karaage or gyoza with red iced tea for an additional fee.
This ramen though is not your usual traditional ramen. Obviously suited to the Pinoy palate, it is a bit sweet reminiscent of some of our much loved dishes.
The corn kernel brings to mind our local pochero. The broth and al dente noodles reminded me of our Pinoy spaghetti while the thin slices of beef is sukiyaki inspired.
Did the combination work though? For me it did. I was prepared to dislike it at first sight. But after that first spoonful, I found myself scooping more of that broth and slurping away at those noodles non-stop
It was the familiarity that brought it home for me. The fact that it brings to mind dishes synonymous with happy memories made it easier for me to appreciate its flavors and textures.
I suggest you pair it with either the karaage or gyoza and red iced tea for an additional fee.
Try it out and let me know how it turned out for you.
See you there :)
