TenDon - a Japanese dish consisting of Tempura and Donburi.
I remember eating at Tendon Akimitsu's branch in Ayala Mall the 30th some moons back with the family.
In that particular mall, the resto adjoins Ramen Nagi .
Per the server I spoke with last Tuesday at this new branch in Glorietta, Tendon Akimitsu at the Top of The Glo is the first independent outlet of the brand.
Together with other select foodies , we were served the following :
Beef Don P350
A combo of beef, egg, shitake mushroom, onion and pickled ginger - this will appeal to the Pinoy palate because of its sweet-savory tenor.
Ebi Tempura
Five pieces of tempura and vegetables could be shared by 1-2 persons. You would have to order rice with this though
Ebi Tempura Set P420
Thoroughly enjoyed the crispy shrimp heads. No shrimp parts wasted. Definitely replicating at home
Aburi Salmon Maki P350
I loved the creativity in this one. The fruity component was complemented beautifully by the saltiness of the kikoman
Overall, although it was indeed the tendon which are the stars of the show, the other items in the menu like the sushi for example made their presence felt with their colorful presentation matched only by how scrumptious they tasted too. The eyes and the palate thoroughly enjoyed this dish.
The price may look a bit on the high side at first glance. But you get your money's worth with their delicious tempura that had substantial shrimp inside with just the right amount of batter.
The whole place looked pristine with a huge Japanese themed mural dominating one wall. On the opposite side is the open galley-shaped kitchen where one can just watch how the food is prepared. The whole vibe is bright, cool and hip which makes it a joy to dine here.
The servers were alert, cheerful and patient.
The location is just at Japan Town located at the Top of the Glo quite convenient for regular Glo habitues such as team piggingoutonsundays.
Already came back yesterday with the piggery and handsome hubby. Looks like we are coming back again when the urge for tendon hits.
