Funny how when I went back to my blog of the year that was, I discovered that son no 2 also celebrated his birthday and graduation at this very same restaurant.
Only goes to show how much we love Kikufuji.
We were there as early as 1030 am and we were the first in line. Just making sure that we can get a table for our party of 14.
Door opened promptly at 11 and we were escorted by our pink-kimono-clad lady server to our tatami room in no time.
We ordered the following :
For starters, we ordered spicy tuna, special california maki roll and plates of salmon sashimi.

We had to wait a bit for the salmon as we were advised they were still thawing it. When it arrived though we can not help but admire how thick and chunky the slices were and how scrumptious they were.
Spicy tuna hits the spot. Those cubes of fresh tuna with wasabe and bits and pieces of crunchy tempura batter were the perfect appetizer.
Unagi a perennial favorite never fails to impress. Price though seem to have escalated from our last visit .
Overall an enjoyable time to celebrate a milestone here at Kikufuji. The star of the show is the food. The ambiance is almost hole in the wall (ish) except that it is a huge place.
Note that there are two menus . The one-pager back to back shows the more expensive items. Ask for the other pamphlet-like one which has a more comprehensive and cheaper roster.
We can not wait to go back
Izakaya Kikufuji is located at Little Tokyo 2277 Chino Roces Avenue Legaspi Village Makati
