Japanese cuisine continues to be up there as my top 3 favorite cuisines along with Italian and French.
Last Wednesday per the invite of Zomato and 102 Izakaya, we were given a preview of what the restaurant is all about.
What is Izakaya?
It is a Japanese-style pub. Think Tapas in Spain but Japanese version. You have drinks and inexpensive bar chows in small portions. 102 Izakaya seeks to let the diners experience Japanese food prepared the traditional way but served with a hip vibe.
Check out the savory items we enjoyed...
Kani Salad P195
The dish was simple with generous portions of kani, It was value for money for its size.

Edo San Special P450
One of my favorites, these sushi were humongous with complex flavors. The downside is you have to eat a piece in one mouthful to experience the contrast in textures and taste. It had anago, cream cheese, crabstick, ebiko, cucumber etc.
Kani Tamago Aburi Sushi P165
Another favorite, I had to do a double take because I initially thought they were slices of salmon . Although a bit disappointed that it was kani after all, they were scrumptious
Kushikatsu P225
P25 to P48 per stick
After the soft texture of the aburi, I was almost looking forward to the crunchy texture of the kushikatsu
Buta Kakuni P310
Braised pork belly with shoyu reduction would be a hit to pork-loving Pinoys. Pork was really tender , flavorful and addicting. A little caveat though. Be ready to order cups of rice with this one.
Beef Usuyaki P345
One of the best sellers of the restaurant, rolled beef stuffed with shitake mushroom and bacon are sure fire winners. Do not forget to dip your meat in that yummy sauce.
Overall, I enjoyed almost all dishes in 102 Izakaya. Special mention to Edo San Special, Salmon Aburi, Kani Aburi, Chicken teppanyaki, kushikatsu, etc.
Definitely returning to try other items in the menu.
