20th Ramen Nagi Shop Opens Today Feb 1

Ramen Nagi opens its 20th store in Eastwood Citiwalk on February 1 Friday. Interestingly enough, 2019 also ushers in the 5th year of  RN in the country.

It is no wonder  then that the Year of the Pig promises   12 months of gustatory surprises for us Ramen Nagi fans.

Earlier  today, we were privileged to have been invited by Nagi to a tasting event of their latest Ramen.

Introducing SAUSAGE KING.

Visualize thin noodles in Ramen Nagi's thin signature Tonkatsu broth infused with bacon then served with creamy mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. It does not end there. For final touches,  it is then topped with chorizo , a humongous pan-grilled sausage and a sprinkle of freshly cracked black pepper.

The whole ensemble looked amazingly delectable. I love charcuterie and what you have here is practically a marriage of  French  and Japanese cuisine .

The broth was really savory  with a rich first note. I tasted the base...  the long-hour-simmered bone marrow and pork bones. Then almost immediately a whiff of smoked bacon and the complex chorizo. The after taste merely whet your appetite and you eagerly scooped that light golden liquid anew wanting to experience that beautiful and silky broth again.

I took a bite of the sausage without the broth just to get a taste of it. It was fat and succulent. The flavor was really subtle. Next I nibbled on the chorizo. I tasted umami

A spoonful of the broth, sauerkraut, mashed potato, sausage and chorizo came next.  The sausage balanced out the richness of the chorizo. The sauerkraut provided  the much needed acidity to cut through all those cloying sinfulness. The mashed potato  imparted  a creamy component to contrast with the chewy chorizo

Definitely a must try. Note though that SAUSAGE KING  will be available from February 1-15 only.
