It was my first time to sample a taste of The Polka Dot Bakeshop. I only learned that it was part of LJC Restaurants Group during the event "A Tribute to Larry J. Cruz " held at Bistro Remedios in Malate , a couple of weeks back
LJC held a Festival of Flavors event in honor of Larry J. Cruz's birth month. Larry or LJC is the founder of LJC Restaurants Group. Each chef of the 9 restaurants in the group crafted two new dishes in cognizance of their founder's passion for food.
Polka Dot Bakeshop served their queso de bola and Strawberry shortcake (P105) for us to taste.
Their ensamada was fluffy and soft even after a day in the ref. I loved how strong the queso bola was. I had mine for breakfast. Warmed it up in the oven to awaken the bread and butter. Actually added dollops more to make the experience richer haha. Paired well with my coffee.
The STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE was ok. It was the regular kind. Would have preferred a whip cream frosting rather than what tasted like butter cream frosting. But its not so bad considering its price. You get what you pay for.
Enjoyed the queso de bola ensaymada more than the strawberry shortcake.
Do not take my word for it. Check them out and let me know how it works for you.
Thank you LJC Restaurants Group for having us and Zomato for the invite
