Dr. Wine

This was just our second date after a long spell of  mutually agreeing not to go out  for a while in favor of saving for family yearly travel.

It did not occur to us that we had another option. Instead of going cold turkey on the dating thing we could just  decrease the frequency from weekly to monthly.

Yes piggery , married people still  go out on dates.... with each other of course haha

So started last month with a tapas date at Rambla.   Then a week ago , we tried Dr. Wine  beside Rockwell.

Remember that popular and authentic Thai place in Algier st. called Som's ? It is gone now replaced by Dr. Wine....

This new resto is 3 storeys high. The vibe is both industrial and rustic which seems de rigueur  nowadays. I love the high ceiling with distressed wood. The theme is echoed in the walls as well.

The second floor is for private functions . Maximum capacity is 50 if I heard our charming hostess correctly. If you want  to dine al fresco , you can choose the one on the ground floor or the roof deck. The view of the skyline  from above is really nice.

The Food.

Truth be told  the handsome hubby and I are wine-cheese-tapas-people. We hardly eat dinner anymore and if we do, we try to keep it as light as possible.

So last Friday night, we ordered their  Organic  Maple Syrup Chicken Liver Mousse P390. The liver mousse was scrumptious and  came with a generous serving of artisanal  bread that can feed 2-4 people , or so we thought haha. Finished the whole lot in no time ...nomnomnom

The mousse was really spectacular. I loved how the sweetness of the maple syrup cut through the richness of that silky , melt-in-your-mouth mousse. That tub of goodness was more than generous.

We also ordered their Cheese Platter P680.  We enjoyed the manchego, bleu cheese, St. Paulin & brie served with salad, pickles  , wine seasalt butter and artisan bread.

Of course the night will not be complete without a bottle of wine...Septima Malbec 2016 P1,680.  This full bodied Argentinian wine went down well with an elegant finish. It paired beautifully with our chicken liver mousse.

"Malbec is a purple grape variety used in making red wine. The grapes tend to have an inky dark color and robust tannins and are known  as one of the six grapes allowed in the blend of red Bordeaux wine...." - Wikipedia

We were seated close to a group of  inebriated ladies who were clearly enjoying themselves . So that marred our intimate moment somewhat. . We will go for the roof deck ambiance next time. Looks more cozy and romantic there barring any sudden rain showers.

Definitely recommending Dr. Wine to everyone who loves their vino.
