The first time I experienced Magnolia Bakery was in New York 4 years ago. Handsome hubby had a scheduled workshop in Virginia for a few days. So we decided to make it a vacay and stayed for another week at his sister's house in Maryland .
New York was like an hour or two drive (?) from Maryland. We stayed overnight in a hotel in NY and explored this vibrant city for a couple of days.
Magnolia Bakery is my sister-in-law's favorite dessert place. She simply loves their Banana Pudding and she just cant wait to let us taste all their creations first hand.
What's in the Famous Banana Pudding?
Curious I googled it and found this...
So it is composed of Nilla Wafers, banana and pudding mixture with sweetened condensed milk and cream. I actually do not recall my first banana pudding experience in NY. So tasting it now in our shores felt like the first time. My first mouthful is full of creaminess, sweetness and the banana. It was good , almost homey. In fact with the Magnolia recipe book, one can replicate it at home.
Other then Banana Pudding...
The piggery and I also tried their other items . We tasted 3 variants of their cupcakes and their fudge brownie. We chose black and white, vanilla and chocolate cupcake. The cake itself on the cupcakes were really chocolatey and moist. The frosting were reminiscent of Sonja's cupcakes which is good because we love Sonja's.
Overall...
It was a satisfactory experience. I was able to taste the famous banana pudding again which was all kinds of creamy and sweet. We were lucky because there was hardly any queue when we got there around 1 pm yesterday. The store was full though inside.
Note that each person had a maximum number of puddings they can purchase.
Shall I go back again? Not if there's a long queue. I will just wait for the hype to go down a bit and go back to taste the other cupcake variants.
