A new branch just opened in Rockwell. The restaurant always catches attention because of the long queue of people awaiting to be let in this recently-opened Ippudo branch.
Lucky for us, we were at the mall by 11 am. So our group of 12 was almost immediately given a table. I loved that row-upon-row of spoon which dominated one wall.
The interior was black-white-red themed with hints of bluish -green from the brick, gray walls and stainless steel.
YOKOHAMA IEKE P499
A unique combination of paitan broth and Ippudo's tonkotsu broth with thick noodles, shoyu tamago, loin and torched belly charsiu and Japanese spinach and cabbage
Our server Sarah said this is a a new product of Ippudo. When she mentioned it was a combination of pork tonkotsu and chicken, I was intrigued. Could it be the same as Tongara ramen ( tonkotsu and torigara combined). Sadly, she does not know.
At any rate, I settled down to enjoy my bowl of ramen. My first thought was it was a little bland. Paitan is suppose to be creamy and white which it was. I was expecting it to be rich and delicious . Unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations.
Oh well the saving grace was their pork bun which is consistently delicious no matter the branch. We also loved their sushi.
Of course their regular ramens remain a favorite too..
IPPUDO ROCKWELL BRANCH is at the second floor of Power Plant Mall.
