It was a regular PiggingOutOnSundays kind of Sunday except that it is a holiday tomorrow. Naturally everyone was in a relaxed and chill mood knowing that they have an extra day to forget about work and school. We were minus one piggery. Unica having taken advantage of the long weekend, is in Batangas skin diving in her natural habitat.
Anyhow, found ourselves in Shang Mall. Heard mass at 11am and as our usual custom, lunch somewhere . Today, bunso requested a resto where there are lots of meat. Striking a balance between what the piggery loved and something healthy, CYMA came to mind.
Our first course was GRILLED LAMB AND WATERMELON SALAD (Family P850). This was an amazing dish the family loved. The colors were beautiful and appealing. The grilled lamb was tender and juicy. The watermelon was sweet and fresh. The verdant green of the mint perfectly complemented the beautiful redness of the watermelon. The feta cheese provided the creaminess which contrasted well with the crunch of the sunflower seeds. The herb vinaigrette was sweet and flavorful rounding up all flavors quite nicely.
Bunso ordered his STEAK GYRO P400. Its home made pita wrap with tzatziki, onions, parsley, tomatoes, honey mustard and lettuce. Served with crispy fries.
Since the piggery love their meat, we ordered a KREATIKA MEAT PLATTER for Two (P1560). One order will give you a generous portion of lamb keftedes (meatballs), 1 piece porkchop , 2 Kalamaki sticks, and 2 lamb shoulders.
An order of this platter includes lemon, Greek chimichurri, tzatziki, parsley salad and pita.
We were 5 and we can not finish the whole thing. Porkchop ,keftedes and skewered meats were hands down favorite. Lamb shoulders although looking fantabulous , were sadly on the chewy side
GRILLED OCTOPUS P300 is a must try too. The octopus were tender and delicious. Do not forget squeeze lemon all over it for another layer of flavor.
3rd child Martin ordered SOLOMOS (solo P490). It is a pasta dish with generous sprinkling of chunky salmon, lime, feta, parmigiano reggiano, basilc cream sauce and angel hair past.
Although delicious, after a few bites you long for something crunchy to cut through the creaminess.
The piggery noted that the dish is reminiscent of our local palabok hehe. Must be the color of the sauce and the angel hair pasta
Overall....
We ordered more than we can eat. We can trim it down further next time. Our bill amounted to an average of P800 per person.
The piggery were happy though and were stuffed with all that protein. Requested for bags for the left overs.
My favorite obviously is their Grilled Lamb and Watermelon Salad.
Service could be improved. Restaurant was full thus the distracted servers.
But Cyma will never get old for the family. Food is consistently good.
CYMA is located at level 6 Shangrila Plaza Ortigas Mandaluyong City.
