CHELSEA KITCHEN

Yes Chelsea Kitchen in SM Megamall also serves merienda and its the Pinoy kind. Yay!

Thanks to the invite of  @teamkaladkarin via @johnbunag, I was privileged to try the Pinoy Merienda Menu of Chelsea Kitchen last Thursday.

Together with other  foodies, we enjoyed the following dishes.

Arroz Caldo P185 and Tokwat Baboy P149

A classic favorite, CK's arroz caldo is  yellow-orange-hued from the native luya (?) or atchuete or saffron (?) I wonder.  It does not matter one whit though. Regardless of the origin of its lively color, it tasted so darn delicious, I can probably eat a bowl of this all by myself together with the tokwat baboy. Portions were generous  and can feed 2-3 people. Reminds me of  the lugaw my lola used to cook for us.
Dinuguan and Puto P165

Black, rich and delicious, this dinuguan ( literally bloodied) is made from pig's blood with vinegar , pig's parts and innards. Then garnished with green chili. It is best paired with white puto ( rice cakes).  Chelsea Kitchen's puto is made from the premises per Ms. Michele (Marketing). It tasted delicious I wanted to order a box of it.
Halo-Halo P235

One can not get any  more classic than  Chelsea Kitchen's Halo Halo. It had the sweet banana, leche flan, ube , ice cream etc minus the tall glass.  It had the requisite red mongo beans, nata de coco, etc.

Saba Con Yelo P120

Think Halo Halo minus all the other ingredients except saba ( sweetened banana), shaved ice , milk and sugar......delicious!

Mais con Yelo P120

Again think HH sans all the ingredients then add Mais or corn, milk and sugar....yum!

MAMI MOLO P155
Do not let that clear broth fool you. It fills your palate with umami flavor with just one mouthful. This was another merienda dish which evoked memories of growing up in La Huerta Paranaque

RAMEN BULALO P395
A fascinating combination, I have a mind to replicate it at home. It was rich, delicious and hits the spot

 DONUT HOLES P195
Deep fried donut holes dusted with powder sugar and filled with dulce de leche .This sinful treat is paired with nutella dip to dunk your donut holes in....divine!

UBE PANCAKE P250
An instant favorite, this ube pancake looked sublime and tasted heavenly.

SUMMARY :

I loved how delicious all the items in their merienda menu were. I remember asking Ms. Michele (Marketing), if they were available only during merienda and was relieved to know all the items were available the whole day.

My favorites were the dinuguan and puto, arroz caldo, tokwat baboy and ube pancake. Loved that all merienda dishes were reasonably priced.

Definitely coming back with the piggery in tow.
